Fans of Kelly Clarkson can now send their song requests in an instant, thanks to Twitter. With the help of the micro-blogging site, users can now tweet their requests to Miss Independent using the #KCrequests hashtag. In fact, the American Idol winner has started taking song requests through Twitter since her summer tour with The Fray. This has prompt her to cover songs such as “Shake it Out” by Florence and the Machine, “We Found Love” by Rihanna, and “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen.

The singer finds this social media experiment “cool” because it varies up her song selection. That’s because fans have tweeted a wide genre of songs, which includes Jessie J’s “Domino” and Dixie Chicks’ “Not Ready to Make Nice.”

Everybody will send in tons of requests for rap songs, pop songs, country songs, R&B … It’ll be, like, random songs. But it’s cool, because every night we get to do something different.

After all, she had to sing all kinds of genres to become the first American Idol in 2002. This experiment goes to show that she’s still up to the challenge—even after 10 years.

She started taking song requests via Twitter last January, and some of her covers created viral buzz on YouTube. In fact, her rendition of “Call Me Maybe” garnered over 210,000 views. Her most viewed cover is Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake,” which accumulated 370,000 views, 3,000 likes, and hundreds of positive comments.

In addition, music channel Chart Show revealed on its Twitter page that the singer plans to release its latest album titled Stronger. It was reported that Stronger, which peaked at number two in the United States, might become available before Christmas this year.
